Celebrating the privilege of being in the Greater Kruger National Park region for nearly a century, the De Villiers family, fifth and sixth generations, have witnessed the bushveld transform from a wild landscape into a world-class destination for travellers both domestically and internationally.
The conservation initiatives the family have undertaken over the years will leave a legacy for future generations to enjoy. A founding member of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, the largest private donation of land in South Africa towards conservation, and the establishment of the Timbavati Foundation, the family have shared resources and provided opportunities for the surrounding communities to aid community upliftment, healthcare, conservation, and education.
A decade ago, Phelwana Game Lodge was purchased and completely redeveloped by Pierre and Jeanine de Villiers. In addition to providing world-class hospitality to their guests, they strive to create lasting memories of Phelwana Game Lodge and South Africa. Owner-managed by Pierre and Jeanine, together with their committed staff, they embrace the ethos of sustainable tourism. Support is given to the local community through job creation and environmental conservation initiatives. ‘Our goal is to ensure that future generations can enjoy the beauty of Phelwana Game Lodge.’
